Our food pantry provides food to over 320 families and 900 individuals every month. Everyone is allowed to come once a week. 50% come only once a month for an average of 1,700 total served monthly. Of this seventeen hundred approximately 700 are children.
We offer ten meals for each member of the family. We serve both homeless people and families whose paychecks do not stretch to the end of the month.
The following table is a list of the "staples" we always need for our food pantry.
Our Staple Foods
| Tuna Fish or Canned Meat | We give out six ounce cans of tuna fish or any size canned protein such as Spam, ravioli, and spaghetti and meatballs. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Pasta | We give out one pound boxes and bags of all types. Spaghetti is always popular. | 300 Boxes/Week |
| Pasta Sauce | The best type is the large 24oz cans of pasta sauce that cost about $1.00. (Glass containers can break during transport.) Flavored sauces with meat or cheese are the most popular. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Canned Fruit | We need canned fruit that comes in roughly 14oz sizes. Mixed fruit is usually the best buy. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Canned Vegetables | We need any canned vegetable that comes in roughly 14oz sizes. Corn and mixed vegetables are popular. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Canned Soup | We give out both the small 10 ounce size and the larger 18 ounce size. Flavors with meat in them are popular. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Canned Beans | Baked beans and pork and beans are popular, but all types of beans are welcome, especially by some ethnic groups. | 300 Cans/Week |
| Peanut Butter and Jelly | All brands and sizes are welcome, but we prefer the types in plastic containers. (Again, to avoid shattered glass containers.) | 150 Jars/Week |
Note: We welcome all food donations and anything donated will make its way to those in need. Donations need to be in an unopened container and within the expiration date.
Can your organization be a monthly giver? We are looking for organizations that would sponsor one of the above items, collect it, and bring it in monthly. Often managers at grocery stores can assist you in buying bulk cases that are still shrink-wrapped for easier transport.
Our kitchen serves between 220-280 meals a day. Donations of turkeys, hams, and ground beef help us to provide a nutritious lunch. Other needed items include oatmeal, cereal, sugar (regular and brown), orange juice, and fresh fruit. Assorted types of spices and seasonings are always in high demand.
We also accept gift cards. These are used to purchase needed items or given to families in need of perishable items that we do not typically stock, such as milk and eggs.
Monetary donations are also extremely important. We depend on donations to raise at least 50% of our annual budget.
Both gift cards and monetary donations may be mailed to us or dropped off in person. Our address and directions can be found on our contact page.
Thank you!
Volunteer
Could you give us a couple of hours between 8:00am and 2:00pm Monday through Friday? We also have Saturday teams. The breakfast team works 7:30am to 10:30am, while our lunch team works 10:00am to 1:00pm.
We ask that all volunteers be eighteen years of age.
Our kitchen staff needs people to help cook, serve, and clean. The food pantry needs help with computer entry and food distribution. We also often need people with transportation to help pick up bread from local grocery stores.
Come and meet with us to determine where you would be comfortable working. You will meet some amazing people and have some fun. Please join our effort.
Thank you!
