Pets contribute unconditional love and comfort to the elderly, children, and families. Meeting the needs of pets often take a back seat to other family needs. The services that we provide make it possible for our furry friends to stay healthy and well-nourished

Thanks to ongoing contributions from our pet partners, including CT Humane Society, Lisbon Petco, Norwich Pet Sense, Norwich Agway, Ledyard Animal Control, and private contributions, we have food and supplies for cats and dogs. We accept all brands and sizes of pet food. Kitty litter is also accepted and in high demand.

Pet Wellness Clinics

After a successful rabies clinic in December 2015 provided by All Friends Animal Hospital, we have been able to extend the services to include a monthly pet wellness clinic from April to October. When the Connecticut Humane Society received a three year grant from the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut's Peter Grayson Letz in 2016, and after hearing about the need in our local community, they partnered with SVdPP to provide monthly pet wellness clinics. Dogs and cats have an opportunity to be seen by a veterinarian, receive vaccinations, and much needed pet care that they might otherwise not receive. In addition, Norwich Human Services, Norwich Animal Control, Norwich City Clerk, and Norwich Community Policing have joined forces to provide additional services including dog licenses and information about low cost pet care and neutering services. This three year grant has already benefited more than 400 animals including dogs, cats, and rabbits.

Pet wellness clinics are held once a month from April to October. A veterinarian from the Connecticut Humane Society is able to see 25-30 animals at each clinic.  Sign-ups are on the day of the clinic and is on a first come first serve basis. Some of the additional services offered at the clinic that do not require a veterinarian are nail trimmings, flea and tick products, dog and cat food.
